Over
the last 35 years the Western States Conference meeting in Reno
has been a touchstone for 11 state dental laboratory associations
and their dental lab technicians to meet and take technical/professional
courses. The western style fun and hospitality has grown in
reputation over the years. The glue that holds this important
regional meeting together is the shared interests of the associations
and dental technicians. For 35 years our state associations
have worked together to ensure that the Reno meeting continues and
prospers. With the reorganization of the National Association
of Dental Laboratories (NADL) in 2000, the Western States Conference
took the bold step to formally organize itself to create a network
of these eleven western states. A non-profit
trade association - Western States Conference, Inc. was formed in
2000 with the mission of providing educational opportunities that
will help promote the advancement of our industry.
A
natural transition
Our
transition into a regional structure was easy. We had and continue
to have a very successful history of the western states working together
for the benefit of our industry regionally. The leadership
is the same as the previous national structure which contained Districts
VII and VIII. Three trustees and the state association leaders
make up the team along with our Western States Conference coordinator
Carol Baez. Western States Conference Inc. has become
a forum for the state associations to share their common interests,
hopes and concerns.
